Lake Tuggeranong Canberra Australia

Lake Tuggeranong is an artificial lake in the Canberra district of Tuggeranong. The lake was created by the construction of a dam in 1987 coinciding with urban development in the district. The lake was built as a sediment trap to stop sediment from entering the Murrumbidgee River.

The lake is a popular recreational site. The foreshore of the lake is parkland, with swimming, fishing, wind-surfing and non-motorised boating all possible activities on the lake. A bicycle path surrounds the lake, running for 6.7 kilometres. The Tuggeranong Town Centre is located immediately to the west of the lake, and on the western shore are the Tuggeranong Library, Lake Tuggeranong College, the Tuggeranong Arts Centre and a number of fast food outlets.
